This dish is best enjoyed with our Fielding Hard Apple Cider
Pour melted butter into the bottom of a 9″ round or square baking dish. Sprinkle with toasted walnuts and brown sugar. On top of brown sugar and walnuts, layer sliced pears to all edges of the pan overlapping slightly.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the room temperature butter and sugar until light and fluffy. With beaters on medium speed, mix in egg, molasses, cinnamon and ginger.
Combine flour, baking powder/soda and salt. Add to batter mixture alternatively with water, being sure to mix in all ingredients well.
Spread over top of pears gently, ensuring not to disturb pear placement. Bake at 350F for 33 minutes or until a toothpick comes out try when picked. Let cool for 15 minutes and then flip on to a serving dish.
