GOLD MEDAL – 2014 National Wine Awards of Canada
“Aromas of dark briary berry, pipe tobacco and graphite open a gorgeous, concentrated river of lively red and black berry fruit, tangy red cherry and rich, black plum compote, coating the palate in grainy-textured waves. It’s medium bodied with a solid tannin underpinning, good balance and structure. This vintage’s blend is 68% Cab Franc, 18% Cab Sauv, 8% Syrah and 6% Petit Verdot. Aerate for two-hours before pouring. It provides excellent value.” ~ Vic Harradine, Wine Writer
The 2012 Red Conception is a unique blend of several Vinifera varietals, crafted separately in small lots before being assembled. The name was inspired by our Tufford Road Vineyard, once a very popular “parking” spot among locals. As it turns out, more than just great wine was conceived in our vineyards…
Each variety was vinified separately and aged for just over one year in oak barrels from selected coopers. The wines selected for the final blend were chosen for their approachability; focus on fruit-driven aromatics, soft tannins, and rich mouthfeel. After several blending trials of each of the barrels in our cellar, the individual barrels were selected for the final blend.
