2006 Meritage
VQA Niagara Peninsula 60% Cabernet Sauvignon
40% Merlot
Winemaking Notes Harvested late in the fall from meticulously managed vineyards on the bench. Vinified separately in small lots with a long, temperature controlled maceration then gently pressed into barrels. After aging for 18 months in a combination of new and second-fill barrels, only the top five barrels of the vintage were selected for the final blend. Wismer Vineyard and Fielding Vineyard.
Tasting Notes Deep red in colur, this ageworthy comlex red has concentrated aromas of black licorice, toasted oak, roasted coffee beans, blackberries, chocolate covered cherries, charcuterie and black raspberries. Rich and intnese on the palate with ripe tannins, very good mouthfeel and a long finish.

Reviews & Accolades 89 Points. "Fielding builds generous flavours into light, vibrant wines. This blend of cab sauvignon and merlot combines toasty, smoky, earthy and herbal flavours with currants and raspberry. Elegant, with fine tannin and a long finish. Best 2010 to 2014." – David Lawrason, Toronto Life 90 Points. "Spicy, chorizo-like smoked paprika flavour, very meaty. Dry, fullish, succulent, generous alcohol, polished tannins and abundant cacao (Ermitage barrel). Try this with a spicy wild boar ragout, from 2010 - 2015. Very nice." – John Szabo, Master Sommelier, WineAlign
